Lost and found support in Istanbul

Istanbul is where most of the cases we coordinate begin: an item is confirmed at the airport, an airline office or a hotel, the traveller has already flown home, and the venue will not post it. This is what we can do about that, and what we cannot.

Important Safety Warnings

Loyal Travel Logistics Ltd is a registered company with hundreds of customer reviews. You can trust us with your belongings. You communicate directly with the company owner, and we operate as a small, trusted four-person team with the reliability and personal care of a family-run business.

  • Third parties should not initiate a lost-item search on your behalf. Doing so may allow them to claim possession or ownership of your item.
  • Always submit your lost property report yourself and only through the airport’s official website. We shared link for you below the page.
  • Do not ask individuals or companies in Türkiye that do not provide a registered business address to collect and ship your belongings. This can create a serious security risk.
  • When sending money to individual couriers, always request an invoice. Making a payment without a clear service description and an official invoice can create a security risk.
  • Avoid companies or individuals that demand payment in advance. Collecting an item from an airport is not always guaranteed, and if the item cannot be released, you may lose the money you paid.
  • Make sure that any individual or company quoting you for the collection and shipping of your item is fully transparent. Ask for a clear breakdown of all charges at every stage of the process, together with supporting proof where applicable.

We do not search for missing items, and we cannot ask a venue to look on your behalf.

How does the recovery process work for my lost item in Istanbul?

If you lost your item inside the airport terminal building and it does not have an airline baggage tag attached, it is handed over to the airport's general lost and found office, operated by IGA. This office can usually only be reached via email or online application. Most lost items are found within the first 24 hours, but it is crucial to apply to the correct department and provide a detailed description of your item. You can submit an official lost property inquiry directly through this link: https://www.istairport.com/en/services/discover/lost-and-found-inquiry-form?locale=en

Where we can collect in Istanbul

Istanbul Airport lost property

The terminal’s own lost-property office, once it has confirmed your item and set out what it needs before release.

Airline desks and offices

Items handed in on board or held at an airline office in the city. Each airline sets its own conditions and holding periods.

Hotels and short-stay rentals

Front desk, housekeeping or the host of a short-stay property, where they confirm they hold the item and agree to release it.

Car rental desks

Items left in a vehicle returned to a rental desk, branch or depot in Istanbul.

Venues and event organisers

Museums, venues, organisers and stewarding teams that are holding an item after an event.

Other approved collection points

Restaurants, offices, shops and other places in Istanbul holding a confirmed item.

Listing a collection point is not a claim of affiliation with it. Every collection depends on that venue’s own release requirements, which differ and are checked case by case. We can only attend a point that has agreed to release the item to an authorised courier.

Returns from Istanbul to another country

Most Istanbul cases end with a cross-border return, which adds rules that neither you nor we control. Whether a return is possible, and what it involves, depends on the destination, the item, customs requirements and whether the carrier will accept it.

We review the item and the destination before accepting a case, and we tell you if a return is not possible rather than collecting first and finding out later.

Destinations and transit times are published under international lost property shipping. What we will not promise is a delivery date: clearance at the destination is decided by its customs authority, not by us.

What it costs

Our rates are published in full on the services page: collection is €60–€130, packing €5–€20, and there is a €60 minimum service fee. Where your case lands in those ranges depends on what the item is, where in Istanbul it is held, the packing it needs and where it is going.

We confirm the price with you in writing before anything is collected. If a collection turns out not to be possible, there is nothing to pay for it.

Districts we collect from in Istanbul

European side

Istanbul Airport is on this side, and so are most of the hotels visitors stay in. These are the collections we arrange most often. Districts: Arnavutköy, Avcılar, Bağcılar, Bahçelievler, Bakırköy, Başakşehir, Bayrampaşa, Beşiktaş, Beylikdüzü, Beyoğlu, Büyükçekmece, Çatalca, Esenler, Esenyurt, Eyüpsultan, Fatih, Gaziosmanpaşa, Güngören, Kağıthane, Küçükçekmece, Sarıyer, Silivri, Sultangazi, Şişli, Zeytinburnu.

Asian side

Sabiha Gökçen Airport is here, in Pendik. An item left on a flight into Sabiha Gökçen usually stays on this side of the city. Districts: Adalar, Ataşehir, Beykoz, Çekmeköy, Kadıköy, Kartal, Maltepe, Pendik, Sancaktepe, Sultanbeyli, Şile, Tuzla, Ümraniye, Üsküdar.

Where most Istanbul cases actually start

In practice four places account for most of what we are asked to collect: the lost property office at Istanbul Airport in Arnavutköy, the one at Sabiha Gökçen in Pendik, hotel front desks in Fatih, Beyoğlu, Şişli and Beşiktaş, and car rental depots near both airports.
