Lost and found support in Izmir

Izmir cases arrive from two directions: the city itself — business hotels, the airport, the cruise and ferry terminals — and the coast west of it, where a day out in Çeşme or a tour to Ephesus ends with something left behind. Which one it is decides who is holding your item.

Where we can collect in Izmir

Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport

The terminal’s lost-property office and airline desks in Gaziemir, once they have confirmed your item and set out what they need before release.

Airline desks and offices

Items handed in on board or held at an airline office in the city. Each airline sets its own conditions and holding periods.

City hotels and short-stay rentals

Front desk, housekeeping or the host of a short-stay property, where they confirm they hold the item and agree to release it.

Cruise and ferry terminals

The passenger terminal at Alsancak and the ferry ports on the peninsula, where an item is held ashore after a sailing.

Tour operators and coach companies

Day tours to Ephesus and the coast, where a bag stays on the coach and ends up at the operator’s own depot rather than at any venue you visited.

Other approved collection points

Restaurants, beach clubs, museums, offices and other places in the province holding a confirmed item.

Listing a collection point is not a claim of affiliation with it. Every collection depends on that venue’s own release requirements, which differ and are checked case by case. We can only attend a point that has agreed to release the item to an authorised courier.

Returned to their owners

Real returns: items our team collected and handed back, photographed at the point of handover.

How a collection in Izmir works

  1. 01

The venue confirms it holds your item

This has to come from you first. Contact the airport lost-property office, the airline, the hotel or the tour operator directly and ask them to confirm in writing, along with any reference number.

  2. 02

    You send us the details

Which venue is holding it, what the item is, when it was left, the reference they gave you, and where it should be returned to. We verify those details with the venue.

  3. 03

    Authorisation for collection

Most collection points release an item only to an authorised representative, usually against a written authorisation naming the courier. We ask the venue what it requires and confirm with you whether it can be met.

  4. 04

    Our courier collects locally

Once release is authorised, our courier attends the approved collection point and receives the item.

  5. 05

    Packing, quote and dispatch

We review the item’s suitability for shipping, choose appropriate packing and confirm the price with you in writing. Nothing is dispatched before you have agreed it.

  6. 06

    Return and updates

We book the return with a carrier, pass on whatever tracking that carrier issues, and confirm each next step in writing until the item is back with you.

Districts we collect from in Izmir

Central Izmir and the airport

The airport is in Gaziemir, on the south side of the city, and the hotels most visitors stay in are around Konak, Alsancak and Bornova. Most collections happen inside this ring. Districts: Balçova, Bayraklı, Bornova, Buca, Çiğli, Gaziemir, Güzelbahçe, Karabağlar, Karşıyaka, Konak, Narlıdere.

The Çeşme peninsula and the western coast

Alaçatı, Çeşme and Urla are a little over an hour from the airport along the motorway. Çeşme also runs a ferry to Chios, so an item can end up held on the far side of a border. Districts: Çeşme, Karaburun, Seferihisar, Urla.

Ephesus, Selçuk and the south

Coach tours to Ephesus set out from the city and from the coastal resorts, and a bag left on one is usually with the operator rather than at the site itself. Districts: Bayındır, Beydağ, Kiraz, Menderes, Ödemiş, Selçuk, Tire, Torbalı.

Northern districts

Bergama and the coast north of the city. Less common, but the same process applies once a venue there has confirmed it holds the item. Districts: Aliağa, Bergama, Dikili, Foça, Kemalpaşa, Kınık, Menemen.

Before you contact us

Nothing can start until a venue has confirmed it holds your item. Working out which venue that is matters more in Izmir than in most places, because a coach tour, a ferry and a hotel each hand items to a different office.

  • For something left on a tour, contact the operator that ran it rather than the site you visited.
  • For something left on a ferry or a ship, ask the operator where items are held ashore.
  • Ask them to confirm in writing that the item is held, and note any reference number.
  • Ask whether they will release the item to an authorised courier.

We do not search for missing items, and we cannot ask a venue to look on your behalf.

Items that crossed a border before you did

Çeşme sails to Chios, and a cruise ship calling at Alsancak carries on to its next port. If an item stayed on board, it may now be held outside Türkiye, and we cannot collect it there.

We say so plainly rather than opening a case that cannot progress. Where the item is held inside Izmir province, the ordinary process applies.

Returns from Izmir to another country

Many Izmir cases end with a cross-border return, which adds rules that neither you nor we control. Whether a return is possible, and what it involves, depends on the destination, the item, customs requirements and whether the carrier will accept it.

We review the item and the destination before accepting a case, and we tell you if a return is not possible rather than collecting first and finding out later.

Destinations and transit times are published under international lost property shipping. What we will not promise is a delivery date: clearance at the destination is decided by its customs authority, not by us.

What it costs

Our rates are published in full on the services page: collection is €60–€130, packing €5–€20, and there is a €60 minimum service fee. Where your case lands in those ranges depends on what the item is, where in the province it is held, the packing it needs and where it is going — a collection in Konak and one in Çeşme are not the same journey.

We confirm the price with you in writing before anything is collected. If a collection turns out not to be possible, there is nothing to pay for it.

Izmir questions

Contact the airport’s own lost-property office, and the airline if the item was left on board. Ask them to confirm in writing that they have it and to give you a reference. Once you have that, we can take the collection from there.

Who we are, and who we are not

Loyal Couriers is an independent service operating in Türkiye. We are not an airport, airline, hotel, booking platform or official lost-property authority, and we hold no official affiliation with any of them. We act only once the venue holding your item has confirmed it and agreed to release it to an authorised courier.
